Devotional for Week Dec. 28, 2003 |
A match is struck and fire begins to burn. The flame is brought closer to a wick of a candle and in a few seconds, the wick is burning away the wax beneath it. Then, like the birthday boy or girl would do, the candle is blown out. But the flame leaves a little redness in the wick. That warmth there, when putting the flame back to the candle, lights the wick faster than if it wasn’t there. I’ll admit it, sometimes I wish that I can be like that flame and just take a rest. But I know God has a better plan for me in His plan – not my plan. If you’ve ever experienced a loss from something that you loved so dearly, then you know how God feels when you turn your back on Him when He knows best. He knows whether or not this way is better than that way. Each person has their own relationship with God. But don’t let a lack of God ruin your day from every day occurrences… or your life, depending on when and how dry you’ve run. In fact, let Him fill you completely, until you overflow. “…whatever situation you were in when you became a believer, stay there in your new relationship with God.” If it was good or bad then, it’s good or bad now. The only difference, HUGE difference, is that God is there with you being a light in the darkness. D.D. QUOTE: Happiness comes from earthly things. You have money – You’re happy; You don’t have money – You’re not happy. But everything inside the Lord, there you can find a peace. ~ Unknown |
1 Corinthians 7:20-24 20You should continue on as you were when God called you. 21Are you a slave? Don't let that worry you--but if you get a chance to be free, take it. 22And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, the Lord has now set you free from the awful power of sin. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ. 23God purchased you at a high price. Don't be enslaved by the world. 24So, dear brothers and sisters, whatever situation you were in when you became a believer, stay there in your new relationship with God. ~ NLT |
